Hunger Games

Angel held on to Drake tightly, and she kept quiet for a few moments. She just didn't want to talk about what had happened. "I was attacked," she said quietly. When he asked about Damon, she burst into tears, hugging him tightly. "They got him," she said quietly, having not idea how she would put it otherwise.

Drake tried to read her expression but found that he couldn't. He gave her a once over to check to see if she really were okay. She seemed okay, at least physically. However, he could tell something had happened. The news forced a heart wrenching pain in his chest. They lost another one of their friends. It seemed implausible. But they got both of them. "It will be okay," he whispered softly to Angel as he rubbed her back. But what did he know?

Angel hugged him tightly, and she tried not to say anything. She really couldn't. She was just too shocked. In a matter of less than an hour, they had lost two of their friends. She was terrified that they would lose the rest of their group. She couldn't lose her friends. They had gone through so much together, and they were so close to getting out.

Drake planted a kiss on her head; he couldn't describe the relief. Sure, he was upset as well. But if he had lost Angel, he wouldn't have been able to cope. "We have to get back to the others," he whispered quietly. They had to. What if someone attacked while they were gone? Zack was still out there, as annoying as it was.

Angel hugged him tightly, and she closed her eyes. "Okay," she said quietly. She didn't want to go back to them, but she knew that she would have to. She held Drake's hand tightly, and she slowly started to walk back to the camp. She wasn't going to be able to tell them what had happened.

Drake followed along beside her and clutched her hand in his own. He knew she would need him just as much as he needed her. They needed to get out of there when they could. They had to save the rest of the friends they had left. Once they reached camp, he took a seat and motioned for Angel to sit beside him. "How to begin....," he whispered.

Angel sat down beside Drake, and she took his hand. She was terrified still of the people that were still out there. They had killed Damon and Star. Brandon looked over at them. He had already guessed what had happened. "You don't have to tell us," he said quietly, and he looked over at Livia.

Drake gave Angel's hand a tight squeeze. He had been so close to losing her; it was like a breath of fresh air. They had another day together, and that was all he could ask for. He glanced to Brandon and Livia; then, he averted his gaze to the ground. The Panem seal appeared and the faces of the dead tributes. Star, then Damon. The girl from one and the boy from twelve. Livia stared down at the ground; she was upset, sure. But if she were honest, it didn't hurt as bad as it would have if it were Brandon or Angel. Angel was her closest friend, and Brandon...well she loved him.

Angel held on to Drake tightly as she watched the seal appear in the sky. She couldn't look at the faces though. She buried her face in his shoulder, afraid that she would start crying again. That was the last thing that she needed to do. Brandon rubbed Livia's back, and he kissed her head. he had to agree with her. He was a bit happy that it wasn't Drake and Angel, but Star was the medical one of the group. No one else knew a lot.

Drake kissed the top of Angel's head and just held her close; he stared up at the sky as the faces flashed across the sky. He knew it would have happened sooner or later. One of their friends were going to die eventually. But it was so soon. He thought of his sister, who had died at such a young age. Not even Angel knew about her. It had been years ago but it was still painful. Livia sent him a weak smile and returned the kiss. It was happening so fast, and Zack was still out there.

The past few days, Brandon had been feeling horrible. It had been maybe two weeks since Star and Damon died, and the game makers seemed to be getting bored. He was in the middle of collecting firewood. He was coughing a bit, but he didn't think much of it. Not until he collapsed into an unmoving heap. He was too weak to do anything. He was burning up, and his throat hurt. He needed medical attention.

Livia was gathering any herbs she could find; she didn't know much, but her sister was a prodigy when it came to herbs. She had learned a bit from her. However, she was no Star. What she knew was limited to things that could soothe pain and whatnot. She only noticed Brandon collapse when Drake came racing over, the day's catches still in the netting. She raced over and dropped down beside Brandon. "Brandon?" she whispered. "Brandon, are you all right?"

Brandon coughed, and he felt as if he couldn't stop. He managed to get out a few moans and groans, but nothing much. Angel raced over to them, and he knelt down beside him. She placed her hand on his forehead, and she bit her lip. "He's burning up. I think he's sick," she said sadly. Without Star there, he could die.

Livia shook her head in protest; this couldn't be happening. "What do we do?" she asked, glancing down at Brandon worriedly. She hated this. She couldn't help him. "We should find a little stream. He needs to cool off," Drake suggested, always the critical thinker. He stood and unsheathed his sword. "We can't go to the main one. The careers will surely be after us."

Brandon was coughing more, and he closed his eyes, trying to block out everything else. Angel sighed softly. "The closet river is too far to get to. It's either we go to the career river or we let him die," she aid quietly. She couldn't do that to a friend. "Let me get my water," Brandon said weakly.

Drake sighed and cursed at that. He was about to unsheathe his sword and demand for the two girls to stay, when Livia spoke. "It would be best I go. If we get into trouble, we don't need our best fighters wounded, just in case. They could get infected, and we don't have any medical assistance." Drake, for once, wouldn't argue with that.

Brandon managed a smile when she agreed. He slowly got up, holding on to Livia tightly. He slowly began to walk, holding on to her to make sure that he didn't fall. "Livia, if this is it, I want you to know that I love you with everything in me. I love you so much," he said quietly before he hugged her. he wanted to kiss her, but he really didn't want to speared his sickness to her.

Livia couldn't stand to hear the words; it pierced her heart. She should have expected this. However, she had always assumed that she would be the one to die. "Brandon, please don't say such words," she whispered. She then whispered, "I love you too. So much." She hugged him tightly before taking his hand. "Let's go."

Brandon bit his lip, and he looked down at the ground. He knew that Livia wanted nothing more than for him to shut up, but that just wasn't going to happen. He knew what was going to happen to him. He soon reached the water. He was about to get some when he heard yelling. Soon enough, Zack appeared.

Livia crouched down beside him and tried her best to help him. She was thinking all was going well, until Zack came running up. Her heartbeat increased. She took out her knives, the only think she was actually decent at. She didn't even speak, just glared. Oh, how she hated him.

Brandon was in the middle of getting some water, and he was trying to get up when he heard Zack. He smirked, and grabbed Brandon, yanking him up. "Look what I found," he said with a laugh. He laughed even more when he found Livia. "So cute. Wouldn't it be a shame if we broke you two up," he said. He was about to stab Livia, but then Brandon stabbed in front. After Zack pulled the knife away, Brandon dropped dead on the ground.

Livia's eyes widened as the scene played out. You know in those films, where the terrible things always to slow in time? Yeah, this was one of those times. She wanted to stop Brandon so bad but she didn't even have a chance. He was dead before she could even speak. Her gaze turned to Zack, and she glared. "Who do you think you are?"

Zack laughed, and he looked down at Brandon. "I'm obviously a new victor," he said, and he kicked Brandon. He smirked before he slashed at Livia. "Goodbye. If you get the chance, tell Drake I said hi," he said with an evil laugh before he ran off as quickly as he could with the rest of his group.

Livia gritted her teeth as he slashed her. It wasn't pleasant, but it couldn't compare to the pain of losing Brandon. He gave his limp hand one last squeeze. "I am sorry," she whispered as she ran off with the tears streaming down her face. She reached camp and collapsed, still holding her arm.

Angel's eyes widened when she saw Livia come back, but she was without Brandon. She ran over to her, and he knelt down beside her, hugging her tightly. "Hey, shh, everything will be okay," she said to her friend. She couldn't imagine what she was going through.
