I can start with her being at school.

Mackenzie sat in her history class, getting a bit bored. Sure, the history of Panem was interesting, but it just didn't seem cool at all. The history teacher walked in, and she grabbed her book, looking around the class. She opened up the book and began. "Today class, we will be learning about the first and failed rebellion of the districts. The first rebellion was led by a man named Drake Sherwood." Mackenzie hadn't really been listening up until then. Drake? Why was he being mentioned in her history class? It had to be the wrong person. "Mr. Sherwood was able to get rather far in the rebellion due to his partners, and yes, you will have to remember all of their names, Angel Sherwood, Hannah and Liam Bradshaw, Star and Damon Matthews, Brandon and Livia Crawford, and later on near the end Dustin and Jaycee Crawford. All of these brace men and women are living today except Angel Sherwood and Damon Matthews who died in the Sherwood War which we will get to later." Mackenzie was dumbfounded. How could she not know all of this? She had met those people countless times. No way it was just coincidence that they were all just the same names.

Blah, blah, blah. Blah blah blah blah blah. Blah, blah. Blah, he heard this the entire time during the lecture. He had read over this plenty of times. Due to his mother's love for fine history, he had been forced to read every single note about this war known the mankind. He was getting in a daze when someone threw a pencil at him. "Tyson, don't you think that girl over there is hot?" one of his friends asked in a hushed whisper. Rolling his eyes, he turned around again and pretended to be paying attention. However, curiosity got the best of him. He brought his gaze over to Mackenzie. And yes, his friend was right. She was beautiful. "Hey," he whispered, dropping his pencil casually near her foot. "Could you, uh, get that for me?"

Mackenzie was going to have a talk with her father about this. Why would he never tell her about something like that? This was kind of huge! He was in the middle of taking notes that she planned on showing her father when he heard someone form behind her. he glanced down, and he grabbed the pencil. "Here you go," she said, and she finally looked at the guy who spoke. He was very handsome to say the least. She was snapped our of her daze when the teacher called on her. "Ms. Crawford, would you rather like to write a thousand word essay on Drake Sherwood, or perhaps on one of the members of the revolution that happen to have the same last name as you," he said, glaring at her. Mackenzie shook her head. "No ma'am," she said. The teacher nodded. "Now, as I was saying, can someone please tell me some advantages the Capital had over the rebels that led to their loss? How about you Tyson."

Tyson grinned at her and whispered, "Thanks." He was just about to say more, when the teacher called Mackenzie out on her talking. Oops. He leaned back in his seat and rolled his eyes. School was not one of the subjects he enjoyed. When his name was called, he leaned forward and placed his elbows on his desk. "Well, the Capital had experienced soldiers as well as high efficient weapons. The rebels were not strong enough to hold up the opposing force, therefore it lead to their downfall," he said, then leaned back once more.

Mackenzie couldn't help but smirk a bit when the guy behind her was called on, but he seemed to know this subject pretty well. She hated to learn about this. She could only imagine what her parent's went through. She raised her hand, unlike her usual manor. "Yes, Mackenzie," the teacher said as she called on her. "You would think that the rebels would have great motivation. They were fighting not only for themselves but the whole future of Panem. They were fighting for the future of their children so they wouldn't have to grow up with the games. I think that is at least one thing the rebels had that the Capital did not have," she said, and she teacher nodded. "Very good, Mackenzie," she said. She was about to continue on, but then the bell rang. "Students, I have you to partner up with someone and write a paragraph on the first revolution. For extra credit, you can give me a few facts about the second revolution and the Sherwood War. It better be in my hands before class starts tomorrow," she said. Mackenzie sighed to herself. This was either going to be a piece of cake or a pain in the butt.

Tyson arched a brow at Mackenzie's comment. Well, that was one way to look at it. When the assignment was given, he rolled his eyes and smirked. Easy as pie. He was about to turn and ask his friend to be partners but he already had one. Catching his eye, he winked and nodded towards Mackenzie. "Go," he mouthed at Tyson. Sighing, Tyson went to Mackenzie and cracked a small smile. "My bud has decided to abandon me. Would you do me the honor of being my partner?" he asked with a light smirk. He threw his things into his backpack and pulled it over his shoulder. "Anyway, I am very....informed with history," he added on sheepishly. If there was one thing he could do, he could spout of the dates of what happened when.

Mackenzie was about to get up and go, but then she saw Tyson right in front of her. She couldn't help but laugh at what he said. He wanted to partner with her? Now she was pretty sure that the pencil wasn't just an accidently. She rose a brow for a moment. "Well, I guess since I don't have anyone to work with, you will have to do," she said, smirking lightly. She grabbed a piece of paper and wrote down something quickly. "I suggest that I come over. My father is rather...really over protective," she said with a small laugh before she walked to the door. She stopped at the door frame and looked back at him before winking. She had never been one to flirt, but she was feeling a bit odd ever since the beginning of history. Maybe it was time for a change?

Tyson arched a brow before he took the paper she gave him and looked down to read it. Slowly, he brought his gaze back up to see Mackenzie was already leaving. He didn't miss the wink. At first, he thought he played it cool, but his friend came up beside him and clapped him on the back. "Dude, you look like a tomato," he said. "Thanks, Nathan. Thanks for telling me so," Tyson grumbled, heading out the door. Once he was out safely in the hall, he brought his attention back to the paper she had handed him.

Mackenzie took a deep breath as she was out in the hall. Luckily, history was her last class. People were already heading outside. She knew that one place that she needed to go before she went home. She got in her car, yet it was a wonder she had one since her father watched her every move, and she drove to a house that was by hers. She knew that this man would have all the answers that she needed. After all, he was the man that led the rebellion in the first place. She knocked on the door before she walked in. "Drake, I need your help," she said, beginning to look around for him.

Drake was leaned against his desk, staring at the many pictures he had. Now that he lived alone, it left more time for him to think. Thinking always made him go crazy. When he did sleep, he didn't sleep well. He lurched forward when he heard the door. He dropped the pictures, many fluttering to the ground. He ran a frail hand through his gray hair. He stood and left his office before going to Mackenzie. "Mackenzie?" he asked in confusion. "What is it?" he asked, stuffing the ring he had had into his pocket. He tried not to flinch at the reminder it brought to him.

Mackenzie looked around the home. Whenever she came in here, all she ever saw were pictures and more pictures. Drake honestly had a problem, but she wasn't going to say anything. "Are you sure this is a good time? I can go if you would like me to," she said. She didn't want to put him in a worse mood than he already seem to be in. "It's just a paper for school. I needed a few facts, and I was sure that you were an expect on them, but I don't know if it's such a good idea now," she said, and she bit her lip nervously. "It's about the revolutions and the Sherwood War," she told him. She knew that his wife was a touchy subject, but if what she heard in school was right, these would be too.

Drake leaned against the wall and motioned lightly with his hand. "No, no. It is fine," he reassured her. The distraction was welcome. As she continued, he arched a brow and tried not to shiver as he recalled everything in detail. He remembered it all. "Take a seat," he said, sitting down on the couch. He blinked his eyes thoughtfully as he thought back. "Ask away," he finally stated, recollecting his thoughts. He wished for a cup of coffee or something right about then. His mind was all over the place.

Mackenzie hesitated for a moment before she sat down on the couch. She pulled out a piece of paper and a pencil. "So what exactly happened during the first revolutions, and how the did the second one happen? What is the Sherwood War and why is it called that?" she asked, and she looked at the ground a few moments later. "Sorry, I need to be quiet. It's just that mom and dad have never told me a thing about this. I didn't even know that you guys were in it until they mentioned your name today in class," she said, and she looked up at Drake. Despite him being a recluse and everything else, she saw him as a role model. He was very strong, and she admired that greatly.

Drake listened to her questions, letting them sink in. Finally, he rested his elbows on his knees. "The first revolution...," he began, chuckling. "Believe it or not, I was the one to lead our little group into it. I was convinced we could do it," he began, rubbing his chin. "Your father...he had become a soldier in that war. Along with your uncle Brandon, and myself," he explained. "The second revolution happened right after my daughter found her way out of the arena with that boy," he said with a long sigh. Yes, he still wasn't so sure about Aspen. But that was his little girl they were talking about. "The Sherwood War. We won the second revolution, and my son became president. My father had tricked us, made us believe Dimitri was dead. And then, the Sherwood War began. It was the...fight of the Sherwoods, I guess you could say."

Mackenzie leaned in, listening to Drake. She was becoming more and more interested about to topic as the day went by. "What was it like? What did my father have to go through?" she asked him quietly. Maybe it wouldn't be too bad of a memory for him. She also wanted to know why her father wouldn't say anything to her about the war. She couldn't help but laugh as she heard him talk about Aspen. "It's been years and you still don't like him?" she asked him, smiling slightly. It would probably how her father would react if she brought a boy home, but with him, it wouldn't matter if he was a doctor, he would still hate him. She wanted to know more about the Sherwood War, but it was going to be a touchy topic for him. It was where his wife was killed. She began to wrote down what he said, and she smiled up at him. "Thank you, Drake. If you need anything, please tell me. I can come and clean your house or something. Maybe keep you company," she said, and she gave him a hug. "I don't think you should be living alone."

Drake stared at the ground and sighed. "It was rough. Hard. We were always missing something in that war," he said with a shake of his head. He shrugged as she mentioned Aspen and cracked a small smile. "She is my daughter, and Aspen was a nuisance," he answered with a simple shrug. He returned the hug and shrugged. "I am fine here alone. I have been doing it for a few years now," he answered, then smiled. "I am a grown, old man. I haven't went senile yet. It is fine."

Mackenzie wrote down the notes as he spoke.he tried to imagine what it was like for her father. It was really hard to picture. "Today in class, someone said that the reason the Capital won was because they had more advanced weapons. What kind of weapons did they have?" she asked. It had to be something more complex than just guns. What did the Capital have that the rebels did? She smiled lightly as he spoke about Asepn. "And I'm guessing your views on the boy will never change," she said. She sighed when he spoke again. "I know that, but I still think you need someone. I doesn't have to be me," she said, and she gave him a small hug. "Would you be will to tell me a bit more about this?" She asked. She suddenly thought of her father. "If he asks, where I am, can you please tell him I'm here? This project I have to do....it's with a guy."

Drake stood and poured himself some coffee he had made earlier. It was still scalding hot, which was a good thing. "Well, that someone knows history then," he said with a crooked smile. "They had bombs, missiles, higher artillery. We have guns and men. That was about it," he answered with a long sigh. "I guess, but I see my children enough. It doesn't always get so lonely," he replied, staring at the ground thoughtfully. Angel came to mind. To this day, it still hurt. Her last question made him lift his head and consider it. "Yeah, I could," he agreed after a moment. Her last request made him arch a brow. "Oh," he said, but he wasn't surprised. "I will be sure to tell him if he asks." Meanwhile, Tyson stepped into his house only to have a small body throw itself around his legs. "Ty!" his little sister giggled. Her dark hair was curlier than usual. It bounced as she hopped on her feet. "Guess what I drawed in school today!" she said excitedly. Before he could speak, he was handed a sheet of paper. There was a boy with dark hair, looking as if he had buck teeth. Under it, it said Ty. Well, actually I said, "Tie." She was close enough, though he hoped he didn't actually look like that. Next to him was a shorter stick figure with curly hair. The word "me" was under it. Then, beside her, a taller stick person with long, straight hair. She looked to be holding the girl's hand. Under it was "'mommy". The paper was taken before he could observe the last person. "That is what I think our daddy would look like. Because I don't look as much like mommy as you do," she said, pointing to the curly haired boy she had drawn. Tyson felt a pang. "Don't mention dad again," he said flatly. He rarely talked like that, especially to his sister. Her eyes welled up, and she had ran away before he could even stop her. "Tyson, what did you do now?" came another voice. Moments later, his mother stepped out from the hallway, holding a crying Willow in her arms.

Mackenzie listened to him, and she smiled a bit. She was going to have to ask Tyson how he knew so much. She listened closely, writing down a few things. "It sounds horrible. It's hard to believe that the people I have been surrounded by my whole life had to go through all of this. She looked up at him, and she smiled when he agreed to cover for her. "Thank you so much Drake. My father would kill me if he knew what I was doing, but he'd probably also kill the poor guy too. I just don't get why he's so overprotective," she said, but the more she thought about it, maybe it was because of the war. "Why did he not tell me? I just don't understand why he waited until I found out through school," she said. She was mad at her father for that. She was sixteen for crying out loud! She could handle it. "Do you think I am come back sometime. I have a feeling my dad won't tell me anything about the revolution."

Drake sighed and shook his head. He couldn't answer that question. There was no way to. He probably wouldn't have told his children either if the games hadn't started back up. He took a long sip of his coffee and went to the phone. "Of course, come back any time. I guess I should tell these stories to someone," he said with a shrug. Most of the people he knew knew about the war already. They had either been through some of it, or they were linked to it in some way.

Mackenzie gave him a small smile, and she hugged him. "I'll come back as much as I can. I think you need someone other than family," she said, and she got up. "Thank you so much for this. It has really cleared up a lot," she said, and she walked back to her car. She glanced down at her phone to see if she had gotten any calls from Tyson. She sighed when her answer came up negative. He was going to have to call her soon if he was going to work with her on this. She quickly sent her father a text just to stall him. I'm going to be with Drake for a while. I'll be back for dinner.

Tyson plopped down onto the couch and pulled out the paper Mackenzie had given him. He dialed the number as just as he was about to press the call button, Willow snatched his phone. "Oo, who are you calling?" she said, giggling. Before he could reply, she pressed the call button. A dimply grin was on her cheeks. "Wills, if you don't give me my phone right now-" he began, but then Willow was speaking into the phone. "Hi, are you Ty's friend?"

Mackenzie was just about to pull out of the driveway when she heard her phone buzzing beside her. She quickly answered the phone, and she was about to speak, but then she heard a voice on the other line. "Um, yeah, sort of. I was going to come over so I could work with Tyson on some history homework," she said. Was this woman his mother? "I mean, if that is okay with you. If not I'm sure we can just do it over the phone," she said. She had no idea what this girl was like, so she didn't feel like pushing her buttons.
